Comparison with Stevie Ray Vaughan is good in many ways, it’s easy to hear that Dan Patlansky inspired by just he – and the guitar icon Jimi Hendrix. But he is no pale imitation, he is a cultured artist who stands firmly on his own musical legs. Moreover, he is broader genre than Stevie and Jimi. There was hardly anyone on FjordBlues this night who thought it was strange that Bruce Springsteen would have him as warm up artist at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg in February.
